Another highly effective antibiotic herb that many of us take for granted is garlic. Garlic has been used medicinally for thousands of years and clinical studies have shown garlic to be active against strains of bacteria that are now antibiotic resistant. Garlic is good for fighting off all kinds of infections and even kills fungus and parasites. Fresh garlic is most effective. Add some freshly crushed garlic to any of your meals, mix it into soups, learn to make garlic herb pesto or make a drink out of it.

tea, I use Twinning's Darjeeling. Allow to steap for 4-5 minutes. Add quart of

Ginger Tea

1 inch or so fresh ginger root, sliced thin or grated
1/2 a fresh lemon, sliced (peel & all)
1 clove garlic, mashed
~2 c water
Very generous spoonful honey
Place water, ginger, lemon, & garlic in saucepan; bring to boil, then
turn down heat and simmer gently for 20 min. Strain into mugs and add
lots of honey. The tea *will* get stronger if you let it sit! Most
invigorating! The garlic adds a bit of bitterness, but the honey masks
that. This tea is very soothing to the throat and warms and opens the
chest and nasal passages. Plus there are all those vitamins and other
good things! I now make this tea at the first sign of a cold, which
helps me fight it off. I find it more effective than the commercial hot
lemon remedies, and of course cheaper!

Green tea leaf (Camellia sinensis)

Qing cha ye, "green tea leaf":
bitter, sweet, cool;
Lung, Liver, Heart, Kidney
This herb has become a cherished daily beverage for hundreds of millions of people.
Green tea is also increasingly famous as being among the most potent available antioxidant foods.
One major theory of aging and mental deterioration is that it's caused by the 'free-radicals' in our diet and environment which take their toll upon our physical and mental functions. Certain antioxidant substances may potentially slow down this process of deterioration. Green teas powers over heart disease, cancer, viruses and tooth decay are the subjects of ongoing research and documentation. Some of the most impressive constituents are types of catechins called polyphenols. In AntioxEnergy we have used two different concentrated extracts, one standardized for polyphenols and the other for green tea caffeine in order to deliver 90 mg of each per tablet. 2, 7

Tea - Herb Teas
As for favorite garden tea blends...
My favorite is Mint (any kind, Peppermint, Spearmint, Pineapplemint, Chocolatemint, etc.) and Lemonbalm (equal proportions).
This is a great "tummy tea".
For an added zing, Add some finely sliced (preferably organic) ginger root (home-grown or store-bought) (ginger is wonderful for digestion and nausea).

As for "sleepy-time" blends ...
I know Chamomile and Catnip are calming and often used in relaxing teas. Hops is also supposed to be calming but I don't have any personal experience with growing and using this one.

Parts used...
All Mints, Lemonbalm, Catnip --- use the leaves and flowers, these plants grow so vigorously, I pinch them back regularly and let the clippings dry on a cookie sheet in my oven (turned off), by the heat of the pilot light.
Then just crumble the dry leaves etc. away from the steam.
Chamomile --- flowers only.

Also ... Feaverfew (great for headache and migraine sufferers)flowers and leaves.

As for the perfect cup of tea ...
I boil water separately, then pour it over the herbs in a mug or tea-pot and allow the herbs to infuse for 5+ minutes depending on personal preference and taste.
